What is trauma?
Trauma can be defined as “an emotional response to a distressing event or series of events that exceeds an individual’s ability to cope.”
Trauma is not so much what happens TO YOU but rather it is what happens IN YOU as a result. Every individual responds uniquely to pain in their lives.
There are many types of trauma and every individual experiences it differently in their bodies, emotions, and relationships.
Why coaching?
When you are in pain, working with someone who will come alongside you with safety and support has been proven to play a crucial role in rewiring the brain and restoring a sense of security and stability which in turn leads to internal long-term healing.
While therapists provide a much-needed clinical service and can diagnose and treat using therapeutic modalities, a coach is a peer who walks side by side with you in relational connection, witnessing your story, helping to regulate emotions, heal the body’s response to trauma, and rewire the brain. Both therapy and coaching are healing modalities that serve somewhat different purposes. Some people prefer to use both.
As your coach, I will be WITH you as you learn to regulate your nervous system and identify faulty core beliefs while rewiring your thinking patterns. I will equip you with simple tools to use in your daily life. I will provide a place of safety, connection, and healing so that your pain can be transformed into purpose and meaning in your life.
“But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.”
Malachi 4:2
Meet Tiffini
Hello! I would like to introduce myself and tell you why I am so passionate about walking with others experiencing pain, grief, or trauma.
I have been married for 31 years and am the mother of five children, three by the miracle of birth and two by the miracle of adoption. As is true for most people, my life has been touched by pain and trauma in many ways. Maybe you can relate to some of my experiences or maybe you have experienced completely different types of pain in your own life. Pain changes you - no matter in what form - and there is hope for all of us to recover and transform. Some things I have walked through include:
Personal depression and hopelessness brought on by circumstances outside my control leaving me with lack of motivation or ability to envision the future
Grieving the loss of unmet life expectations
Adolescent children suffering with unexplained illness, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation
Dealing with personal health challenges
The death of my sister and best friend at age 49
Loss of an immediate family member to suicide
My adult children walking through deep pain, suffering, and loss
Working with women experiencing emotional abuse and/or betrayal trauma
Over the course of many years, God has led me on my own healing journey - one that has required me to face my pain, loss, and grief and the effects they have had on my body, emotions, and relationships. As I allowed myself to face the fact that my pain was valid (rather than stuffing and denying as had been my usual practice), I began to experience genuine healing. As a result, God lit a fire in my heart to help others transform their own painful stories into stories of redemption, peace, joy, and freedom.
Through my training with Nothing is Wasted Ministries to become a Certified Biblical Trauma Care Coach and pursuing ongoing trauma care education, it has become my deep desire to now journey with others on their own paths of healing .
